Girish S Paranjpe

Girish S Paranjpe is the new Jt. Chief Executive Officer of Wipro’s IT Business alongside Suresh Vaswani and is an Executive Director in the Board of Wipro Limited. He jointly carries the overall responsibility for the strategy and operations of Wipro’s IT Business. He takes over this new role effective April 2008 and will report into the Chairman of the Company Mr. Azim Premji. Girish’s direct responsibilities include the following Business Units – Finance Solutions, Communication, Media and Technology vertical and e-enabling service line. Girish is also directly responsible for driving Consulting and the functions under him are Global Delivery, CTO and CIO office & Operations.
Girish joined Wipro in 1990 and has held a broad range of leadership positions in critical portfolios across the Wipro Corporation during his tenure in Wipro for the last 17+ years. In his last role from year 2000–March 2008, he was the President of Wipro Technologies Financial Solutions division and a member of Wipro’s Corporate Executive Council. Financial Solutions division provides IT and business process services and solutions to global customers in Banking, Insurance, and Securities and in diversified Financial Services. Under Girish’s leadership, Finance Solutions has grown at 45% per annum on a compounded basis over the past five years, established valuable customer relationships and significantly deepened domain expertise within Finance Solutions. During Girish’s tenure, the share of Wipro’s revenue from Financial Services clients more than doubled going up from 12% to 25%. Girish also had additional responsibility and was overseeing marketing for the technology business and was heading strategic council.
He became the head for the consulting practice from the year 2007 and this still continues to be part of his direct responsibility. Girish has represented Wipro and the IT Industry in various public forums including the Prime Minister’s Task Force on Information Technology and at the Nasscom.

Ajay Vasudeva
Head, R&D,
Nokia India Ajay Vasudeva is the Head of R&D for Nokia India. In this role, he spearheads Nokia’s India R&D strategy. Ajay also defines and oversees the use of innovation and technology to strengthen Nokia’s leadership in the industry.
At the R&D hub in Bangalore, Ajay heads a team of engineers who are working on next-generation mobile technologies and communications solutions to enhance corporate productivity.
An industry veteran, Ajay has over two decades of experience in telecom R&D. He has had a long stint with Nortel Networks in Dallas, Texas. At Nortel, Ajay has worked in R&D on wireline software development for Sprint, MCI and many other customers. He has also worked on R&D base programs to serve Vodaphone, Sprint wireless, Verizon, Orange, etc. Ajay was instrumental in expanding Nortel R&D in India and China. He has been the pioneer of exploring subcontracting models and using India resources in early 90s. Prior to joining Nokia, Ajay was the CEO and MD of iSOFT R&D Ltd, a Healthcare IT company. Aseem completed his BTech at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. He started his career with Infosys, but soon discovered that his real passion was start-ups. In 1997, he was part of the team at eCredit that shipped the first four-tiered enterprise product out of India. His sojourns with start-ups gave him several opportunities to build teams ground-up, and he realized that, more than anything else, hiring the right people was key to business success. Individuals who started their career under him could climb the ladder fast and reach senior management positions in leading companies including fortune 500. This further catalyzed his move into the evaluation and recruitment space. He currently heads the corporate business practice for eLitmus Evaluation. eLitmus is pioneering evaluation methodologies that are leagues ahead of ones employed by companies currently - both inhouse as well as outsourced.

Jay Ruparel is the co-founder-promoter of Azure Knowledge Corporation, the largest KPO and BPO of Gujarat with 2400 employees across its 7 centers in Ahmedabad, Pune, Chennai, Guangzhou and Philadelphia, providing Financial Services, Knowledge Services, Customer Interaction services and IT services to Fortune 500 companies. He currently serves as the Executive Director and Chief Operations Officer at Azure
Jay is an Electronics & Communications Engineer with a Post-graduate Diploma in Software Enterprise Management from IIM, Bangalore. He has worked as Sr. Project Manager with Infosys Technologies in Bangalore for 4 years and with Bell Labs in Boston, prior to starting Azure Knowledge Corporation.
Jay is Chairperson of the CII-Young Indians for the Gujarat region and is currently on the Board of Advisors of the Entrepreneurship Development Center at MICA and on the Board of Advisors of AIESEC. He has been a visiting faculty at IIM Ahmedabad, Mudra Institute of Communications (MICA) and Nirma University. He is an executive member of the ESOMAR, CASRO and MRSI and has presented white-papers and articles at leading international symposiums and conferences. His recent paper on Customer Centric Contact Center Management practice was awarded the best paper as a part of the Customer Responsiveness Awards adjudged by Ernst & Young and AC Nielsen.
He has been invited by industry bodies like FICCI, Nasscom and CII to address audiences at various national and international conferences.

Srini Rajam co-founded Ittiam Systems in 2001, along with a team of senior leaders from the semiconductor industry. Ittiam is focused on DSP (Digital Signal Processing) Systems. The company is ranked as the World’s Most Preferred DSP Intellectual Property Supplier by Forward Concepts for four successive years from 2004 to 2008. Ittiam is a Red Herring 100 Asia Winner in 2005 and received the NASSCOM India IT Innovation Award in 2006.
Prior to Ittiam, Srini was the Managing Director of Texas Instruments (TI) India during 1995-2000 and led TI India to be among the most valuable R&D centers for TI. He was the first Technical Marketing Director for TI in Asia Region. Srini has served as a member of the Governing Council of India’s Department of Electronics' Software Technology Parks.
Srini received his Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Madurai University.
Ms Uma Balakrishnan

Ms. Uma Balakrishnan started her career journey in Industrial Automation with ABB in 1987 when she worked in the area of indigenization for industrial automation product manufacturing and cement automation division. She took-over as CEO of a start-up company by name ‘Sunlux Engineering’ in 1992 to build the automation business of the company.
In 1995, Ms. Uma Balakrishnan started her first entrepreneurial venture by incorporating an organization ‘Automation Design Center’ which provided consulting and software development services in the domain of industrial automation for manufacturing industries both in the domestic and overseas market. This company subsequently grew into a Joint venture with US based hydraulics major ‘OilGear’. Ms. Uma continued in the JV as a director of the company since 1997 and was involved in various key functional areas of the company.
In 2001, she incorporated ‘Techitomation’, to provide IT and automation solutions for manufacturing industries. The firm eventually evolved into Axcend Automation & Software Solutions and became a Joint Venture with a Canadian major called ‘Acrodex’. Axcend is one among the very few focused players providing Industrial Automation Solutions and IT for manufacturing companies. Axcend is also the only CMMi level 3 certified company in the world for the hybrid processes of IT & Industrial Automation. The company’s clientele ranges from “the 8 out of the top 10 global Automation OEM’s” to “the end manufacturing companies in India & abroad”. Ms. Uma Balakrishnan is currently the CEO of Axcend.
She is a MBA graduate from IIM Bangalore, before which she has completed B.E. from Bangalore University and a Masters in Computers from BITS – Pilani.
Mr Y. V. Prakash

Honeywell Technology Solutions Ltd
Prakash is the Director for Research and Technology Group since January 2005. Prior to joining Honeywell, he was Manager at Avionic Design Bureau - Hindustan Aeronautics. In this capacity, Prakash was responsible for the design & development of Avionics equipment for Light combat Aircraft and Advanced Light Helicopter.
Prakash Joined HTS in 1996 as Team lead in Aerospace Division and then went on to managed software development teams for Home & Buildings Products, Germany and Honeywell Power Systems group before taking up the responsibility of incubating the Research & Technology group at HTS in 2000. In his capacity as the lead for Research and Technology he was responsible for setting up multi-disciplinary groups in Wireless communicating, Video and Image processing,Diagnostics and Prognostics, Industrial Process control, Nano Materials and advanced S/W computing. Prakash is responsible for managing Intellectual Property Analytics services for Honeywell.
He is responsible for Innovation council and University relationships for HTS across India. Several research programs were started through university collaborations in India and initiated several partnerships with startup companies in India. Prakash played key role in bringing in the TSP/PSP concepts into HTS processes and was instrumental in kicking off and managing the Quest for innovation processes / practices at HTS. He is the chairperson for TIFAC-CORE on Wireless technologies. TIFAC CORES are responsible for grooming human resources in the region as part of India’s VISION-2020 program.
